From Sold-Out Launches to Local Shelves: Cardi B’s Unexpected Haircare Strategy!

After multiple sellouts and a successful digital debut, Cardi B is taking her haircare brand beyond the screen and into neighborhood beauty supply stores.

Cardi B is giving the celebrity beauty business a lesson in knowing your audience. Following a sold-out debut in April 2026, several highly anticipated restocks, and an appearance at ESSENCE Festival of Culture, her haircare brand, Grow-Good Beauty, is officially expanding into select beauty supply stores.

Rather than debuting in Sephora or Ulta Beauty, the Bronx-born rapper is choosing independently owned retailers, including neighborhood stores where consumers already shop for their everyday haircare essentials. It’s a strategic move that prioritizes accessibility, community, and brand visibility over the traditional prestige retail playbook.

From Digital Debut to Retail Demand

Developed through a joint venture with fashion retailer Revolve Group, Grow-Good launched with six haircare products priced under $20. Its March presale sold out within an hour, followed by another rapid sellout during its official April 15 launch. Demand continued through subsequent restocks in May and July. Revolve reported that its first three product drops sold out within hours, with certain products disappearing in minutes.

The partnership combines Cardi’s influence and personal connection to haircare with Revolve’s experience in digital commerce, marketing, and brand development. Through direct-to-consumer sales, the brand has established an online audience before moving into physical retail.

Cardi also brought Grow-Good to ESSENCE Festival 2026, where she discussed her personal haircare journey and the importance of affordability. Recalling a time when she had just $40 to spend at a beauty supply store, she explained how those experiences shaped her approach to pricing.

From the Bronx to Beauty Supply Shelves

Beginning October 20, Grow-Good entered two New York City beauty supply stores, followed by an expansion into additional markets on October 23.

Speaking with The Business of Fashion, Cardi emphasized the value of the beauty supply stores she grew up visiting and her relationships with their owners. She also expressed her ambition for Grow-Good to be available “everywhere.” The goal is not to exclude larger retailers indefinitely. In a separate interview with ESSENCE, Cardi confirmed that broader retail partnerships remain part of her plans, but beginning with independent stores was especially meaningful to her.

The move is also a smart lesson in distribution. Beauty supply stores have historically played an important role in textured haircare, offering access to products, styling tools, and brands tailored to the communities they serve. By expanding into these spaces first, Grow-Good is introducing its collection where many of its potential customers already shop.

Where to Find Grow-Good Beauty

Grow-Good currently lists these four retail locations on its official website:

  • Beautify Beauty Supply: 247 W. 145th Street, Harlem, New York
  • Solea Beauty Supply: 256 E. 138th Street, Bronx, New York
  • Texture Beauty Supply & Salon: 2277 Peachtree Road NE, Suite C, Atlanta, Georgia
  • LA Beauty Club: 1245 S. La Brea Avenue, Los Angeles, California

Additional independent-store rollouts have been reported in Chicago and Houston, although their specific store names and addresses are not yet listed on the brand’s official stockist page.

Customers can also shop online at GrowGood.Beauty.

A Beauty Brand Built to Be Seen

Cardi B has never been shy about her love for beauty, from elaborate red-carpet glam to sharing homemade hair masks and her natural hair journey with millions of followers. That familiarity gives Grow-Good an advantage beyond celebrity recognition. Consumers have watched her discuss haircare long before she launched a product line, creating a connection between her public identity and the brand. According to The Business of Fashion, Grow-Good reported that approximately 40% of its customers had returned to purchase again by October 2026. Although early, that figure suggests the brand is generating interest beyond its initial launch.

For Grow-Good, the transition from online sellouts to neighborhood retail creates another opportunity to turn attention into consistent purchasing. In the past we have seen these celebrity brands have exclusive releases in Ulta and Sephora that seem to thrive for approximately two years. Until a new trendy line comes to steal the top shelves. While most celebrity beauty brands aspire to dominate the shelves of major retail chains, Cardi is reminding the industry that visibility begins with understanding where your audience actually shops.

From the block to the beauty aisle, Grow-Good’s expansion proves that a brand doesn’t need to start with prestige to pursue a bigger presence.
